NCSS Surveying Seminars:

The North Carolina Society of Surveyors conducts a seminar in early August, and nine regional seminars during the Fall. These seminars are 7.5 hours long, and are on Fridays. The Society also offers a 7.5 hour seminar, and two half-day hour seminars at the Annual Convention in February. There is usually one seminar each day of the convention. The Society also holds a 30 hour Institute each March. The Institute is composed of four sections which cover the profession. You can also register for just one day. The Wednesday session is 8 hours. The Thursday and Friday sessions are 9 hours, and the Saturday session is 4 hours long. All of these seminars are aimed at Professional Land Surveyors, and assume a knowledge of surveying. If a teacher feels that he or she would benefit, however, the Society invites you to attend.

The Society also holds two-day exam reviews to prepare candidates for their licensing exams. These are held on a Friday and Saturday in late March/early April, and in early October.

The Society invites other professionals to attend their seminars at NCSS member tuition rates if those professionals are members of their own professional associations. So if a teacher is a member of NCCTM, NCSTA, NCATE, NCAE, etc., the teacher can sign up at the Society member rate. The tuition includes handouts, lunch, and breaks. A certificate of attendance listing the number of contact hours is given to each participant.

Summer Surveying Internships:

A limited number of summer internships may be available for teachers to work in surveying firms during the summer. Responsibilities, work hours, and wages would vary from firm to firm.
