Classroom Instruction Aides: Career Guidance Material:
Teacher Development in Surveying: Surveying At Your Career Fair:
  • NCSS Education Foundation representatives have spoken at the N.C. Department of Public Instruction Math Leadership Retreat. We would be glad to speak at other statewide or regional educator association conferences.
  • The North Carolina Society of Surveyors and the NCSS Education Foundation will try to arrange for a surveyor to appear at your career fair.
Trig Star student Competition: Student Scholarships:
  • The Trig Star Contest is an annual high school mathematics competition. Prizes and scholarships are awarded for state and national winners.
  • The Foundation offers scholarships for students to study surveying.
  • The American Congress on Surveying and Mapping also offers scholarships.
Surveyors as Classroom Speakers: Opportunities to See Surveying:
  • The North Carolina Society of Surveyors and the NCSS Education Foundation will try to arrange for a surveyor to speak to your class about the surveying profession, trigonometry and geometry, the Global Positioning System, drafting, or other topics.
  • The North Carolina Society of Surveyors holds its Annual Convention and Exhibits the first week in February. Educators are invited to tour the exhibit hall.
  • Teachers may register for surveying seminars put on by NCSS.
  • A limited number of summer internships may be available for teachers to work in surveying firms during the summer.
