Scholarship Criteria

Selection Criteria for Awards of Funds
Candidates must meet the requirements in III. Those who qualify may have projects considered for funding awards based on the following criteria.

Candidates may apply for funding awards by writing the Foundation (or the North Carolina Society of Surveyors, Inc.). The Board of Directors will ask the North Carolina Society of Surveyors, Inc., Formal Education Committee for its opinion on whether the candidate is qualified, and to what extent the criteria have been met.

At its sole discretion, the Board of Directors may begin a fund-raising campaign for a project, make an award from existing funds, declare a project to be worthy but not fund it at that time, or take no action.

If the Board of Directors pledges an award to a project, it may specify steps that must be completed before the funds are expended.

I. Primary Candidates.
The Foundation will seek projects that meet the following criteria until those needs are met.

A. A university within the state of NC seeking to implement a Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying.
The university must have a specific plan detailing:
1. How the degree will advance the practice of surveying;
2. The need for funds;
3. The other funding sources the university will seek;
4. How an award of funds would enable the degree program to be implemented; and
5. The point of completion in the plan at which funds will be awarded.
B. A university within the state of NC seeking to enhance a Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying.
The university must have a specific plan detailing:

funds;
5. How an award of funds would enable the enhancement to be implemented; and

Associate’s Degree in Surveying Technology, or a similar degree. The college must have a

implemented; and

students in a Bachelor’s, Associate’s or advanced surveying degree program, or similar
degree. The college must have a specific plan detailing:
1. The nature of the enhancement;

3. What percentage of the use of the enhancement will be used for teaching surveying;
4. Why it is appropriate for funding to come from the Foundation rather than college
funds;
5. How an award of funds would enable the enhancement to be implemented; and
6. The point of completion in the plan at which funds will be awarded.
